Melanie J. Davenport, LMSW, CCTP
Trauma Therapist, Meditation Coach, EMDR Practitioner
You may not know how to find relief, but you have been seeking it for a while. You just want the constant irritability, depression, and numbness to end, and it feels like no one can understand what you’re going through.
I believe everyone innately has the key to their own happiness, and as a therapist, I hope to become a guide in your search for wholeness. With that said, I work best with people who are prepared to work outside of our regularly scheduled sessions.
As a therapist, I have a psychodynamic, holistic, and mindfulness-based approach to healing. My mission as a practitioner is to help clients reclaim lost parts of themselves from past traumas, negative beliefs, and unhealthy cultural conditioning. Intersectionality is an important part of the therapeutic process, therefore all races/ethnicities, sexual orientations/identities, and spiritualities are honored, considered, and explored.
Melanie received both her Masters of Social Work and her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with minors in Fine Art and Anthropology from Wayne State University. She has a background of working with people impacted by childhood trauma, sexual abuse/assault, addiction, depression, anxiety, and other life stressors. Melanie is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and provides EMDR. She has also worked individually and with groups as a mindfulness meditation teacher since 2008. She presents therapeutic approaches that are cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, eclectic, and humanistic.
